The basic functionalities are present, except for the e-mail newsletter. In addition, there is an API to link WijkConnect to, for example, a website, local newspaper or digital screen.

What do I think about it?

Clear site, playful design. By offering implementation assistance as needed, there is something for everyone.

4. Areaonline – users are members of the cooperative
Gebiedonline is a neighbourhood platform in cooperative ownership. The platform started in 2016 in the new c level executive list  IJburg district in Amsterdam. About 15 neighbourhoods and villages now use it. The platform supports bottom-up initiatives through information exchange, by making connections and by activating and helping people to do more themselves. Gebiedonline sees locally oriented networks as a motor of necessary social and democratic renewal.

If you want to start as a neighborhood or district, two administrators are needed. These can be residents or professionals. They meet monthly with the clean email other administrators to share knowledge and decide on new functionalities.

The platform offers basic functionalities and a number of extras: voting on residents’ plans or municipal policy, a list of jobs and an auction module.

There are no start-up costs, only an annual membership fee to the cooperative

What do I think about it?
The platform has many possibilities, the design is a bit minimal. The cooperative ownership is very sympathetic, although it does require active involvement of the members.

BUURbook is a platform where residents, entrepreneurs and professionals work together to create a better neighbourhood. The platform was founded as a company in 2013 by two enthusiastic Rotterdammers.

They have clearly looked at Facebook , because at BUURbook you also have your personal page, ‘My BUURbook’. This is the dashboard where  your hashtag plan for greater reach you can follow your neighbours and find activities.
